Lecture “Written speech and handwriting: general and particular features, research possibilities” at the National Historical Archives of Belarus

On 6 June 2022, as a part of the scheduled advanced training, the National Historical Archives of Belarus held a lecture “Written speech and handwriting: general and particular features, research possibilities”.

The lecturer, Vitaly Elyotnov, Head of the Management of Preliminary Investigation Bodies Department at the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, told the staff of the Archives about the specifics of handwriting formation, including in different historical periods, the influence of various factors on it, the common and private features of handwriting, subjective and objective factors in the development of handwriting and motor skills, as well as about the possibilities of studying handwriting materials.

The lecture was accompanied by a visual presentation containing pictures of different handwriting features. The lecture aroused keen interest of the archivists, and at the end V. I. Yelotnov answered numerous questions.
