The Belarusian Cinema and Photo Archives took part in a requiem meeting marking the 79th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy

On 22 March, a requiem meeting was held at the Khatyn Memorial Complex to mark the 79th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy. On 22 March 1943, the residents of this Belarusian village were burned. On that day 149 people were killed, including 75 children. The terrible fate of Khatyn during the Nazi occupation was shared by over 9,000 Belarusian villages. After the war these settlements were not revived. The Khatyn memorial has become a worldwide symbol of sorrow and suffering of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.

The employees of the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings Alla Kot, the chief curator of the collections and Ksenia Lozhechnik, the leading archivist of the department of state registration and finding aids took part in the commemorative regional events as members of the delegation from Dzerzhinsk District.
