Managers and young specialists of the State Archives of Minsk Region visited the Khatyn Memorial Complex
On March 16, 2022, archive managers and young specialists of the State Archives of Minsk Region visited the Khatyn Memorial Complex.
As part of the events marking the Year of Historical Memory and the anniversary of the tragic death of Khatyn residents at the hands of Nazi invaders, as well as for the purpose of civic and patriotic education of young people, the archive staff laid flowers at the monument “The Unconquered Man”. An excursion program to the Khatyn Memorial Complex was organized for the participants. The event concluded with a moment of silence in memory of the people who died in the fire of the burned village.
Today, there is probably no person who would not know and heard the word “Khatyn”. The name of a small Belarusian village has become a symbol of the tragedy of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. The terrible events of March 1943 still echo with pain in the hearts of Belarusians. The events dedicated to the Khatyn tragedy and held at the Khatyn Memorial Complex during the Year of Historical Memory are more than ever intended to preserve the historical truth and perpetuate the memory about the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
