The Local State Archives in Baranovichi held a meeting of archivists with students of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Baranovichi State University

On March 14, 2022, the Local State Archives in Baranovichi hosted a meeting of archivists with students of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Baranovichi State University. The group of students was accompanied by the curator Natalia Senyuta. The event included a lesson of historical memory on the theme “The Great War – the Great Victory”. The students got acquainted with the documents reflecting the policy of genocide during the German occupation in the Baranovichi region, and the documents from the collection of personal papers of participants of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. The director of the archives Olga Shershen read to the students fragments of memoirs of a participant of the Great Patriotic War, Nazi prisoner Sofia Lysyuk, showed letters of Soviet soldiers sent to their families and relatives from the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, and told about the forcible deportation of citizens to Germany by the Nazis, the prisoners of war camp No 337 at Lesnaya station and the death camp in Koldychevo.

The director of the archives Olga Shershen informed the students about the main activities of the Archives, peculiarities of storage, acquisition, registration and use of documents. Nataliya Anischenko, the head of the department of records preservation, registration, scientific and reference system, use and publication, informed the students about the information resources which can be used to search for information about archives and documents, and presented a guide to the archive holdings. The students were given a tour of the archives and visited the archival repository.
