The State Archives of Minsk Region held an excursion for third-year students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University

On March 14, 2022, the State Archives of Minsk Region held an excursion for third-year students of the Historical-Archival Department of the History Faculty of the Belarusian State University.

During the event the future historians-archivists were told about the history of the archive, the difficulties the first archivists encountered, the work of the archive during the Nazi occupation and the postwar period, as well as about the talented and selfless people, whose work helped preserve the unique documents on the history of our region.

During the tour the students learned about the current work of the archive, the composition and features of document storage, publishing and exhibition activities. They also visited one of the storage facilities, a reading room and staff offices.

In the Year of Historical Memory and the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian Archival Service, it is especially important to convey to the younger generation the importance of preserving the country’s documentary heritage for the preservation of historical truth.
