The State Archives of Public Organizations of Gomel Region held a meeting of archivists with students of Gomel State College of Mechanical Engineering

On 9 March, the State Archives of Public Organizations of Gomel Region held a meeting of archivists with students of the Gomel State College of Mechanical Engineering. The student group was accompanied by a teacher of special disciplines Vladimir Gritsenko.

The event included a lesson on historical memory “The tragedy of the Great Patriotic War in the fate of the Belarusian people”. The event was opened by the director of the archive Natalya Abramova, who during the excursion acquainted the students with the history of the archive, the composition of documents and the features of their storage.

The students also visited a documentary exhibition “They defended Gomel in the first months of the Great Patriotic War” prepared on archival documents and photographs, and got acquainted with the process of digitizing archival documents by scanning.

As part of the event, the students were informed about the opening of the exhibition “Farewell, People… Facts about the Nazi atrocities in occupied Gomel” and demonstrated a special report from the excavation site of a mass military burial in the Chyonky forest.
