The 19th Archival Readings at the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art

On October 01, 2021, the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art hosted the 19th Archival Readings. The conference was dedicated to the Archivist Day, as well as to the 100th anniversary of the State Archival Service of Belarus, and the anniversaries of famous cultural figures celebrated this year.

In his greeting speech, Alexei Tsvetkov, Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, noted the importance of archival service for modern society. The director of the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art, Anna Zapartyko, recalled the famous jubilees of 2021, among them literary critic and writer Stepan Alexandrovich (100), People’s Artist of Belarus Alexandra Klimova (100), People’s Poet of Belarus Nil Gilevich (90), historian and researcher of literature Gennady Kiselev (90), poet and public figure Gennady Buravkin (85)… The documents of each of them are preserved in the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art.

At the plenary session, Professor of the Belarusian State University Mikhail Shumeiko spoke about the century-long ties between the Belarusian State University and the State Archival Service of Belarus, Elena Makarenko spoke about the scientific reference system of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, and Irina Smirnova spoke about the manuscript collection of the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literary Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
