The Local State Archives in Rechitsa prepared and published a geographical index to household books of village and town councils

The Local State Archives in Rechitsa, Gomel Region, has prepared and published a geographical index to the household books of the village and town councils, which are stored in its repository.
The release of this archival directory was caused by a long-standing necessity, since earlier the search for household books at the request of citizens was difficult for a number of reasons.

In particular, the settlements in the acquisition zone of the Rechitsa State Archives (Bragin, Loev, Rechitsa and Khoiniki districts), due to frequent administrative-territorial divisions in the Soviet period, were transferred from one village council or district to another. This required a painstaking search for information in inventories and files on the existence of villages and settlements in a particular region, which took a lot of time.

Later, information about settlements and administrative-territorial units was collected from household records and made into cards, and then systematized in the geographical index to household books. This greatly facilitated the work of archivists to search for information at the request of citizens, which makes it possible to quickly find the required household book for the specified locality in the declared period.

This reference book was prepared by the team of authors: the editorial board consisting of N. N. Pishchik (Director of the Archives), I. V. Komar (Head of the Department for Organizational Archives, Records Management and Acquisition) and M. V. Zakovrash (Head of the Department for Information and Use of Documents), compiled by S. A. Zharnosenko (Leading Archivist at the Department for Information and Use of Documents), T. V. Frolova and A. A. Kmetz (archivists at the Department for Records Preservation and State Registration). The reviewer of the publication is Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor S. B. Zhikharev.

The publication is intended for employees of archival institutions, district, city, town and village executive committees, historians, ethnographers, researchers.
