Range of activity
- Conducting research to ensure long-term preservation and accessibility of electronic records; the development of new technologies for electronic recordkeeping in public and commercial institutions
- Participating in the development of a legislative, normative and procedural base for providing authenticity, reliability and preservation of electronic records
- Permanent preservation of electronic records included in the National Archival Holdings of the Republic of Belarus
- Providing procedural aid to agency records centers in the preservation of electronic records as well as the formation and use of information resources
- Developing scientific principles for and the appraisal of electronic records
- Development and implementation of new technologies for making the traditional archival records accessible
- Publication and scholarly use of the documents included in the National Archival Holdings of Belarus, the materials related to information science in Belarus, and other procedural and scholarly documents
- Identifying records on Belarusian history in the archives of foreign countries, and obtaining their electronic copies
- Publishing in paper and electronic media the collections of records and other materials of social, political, scientific-technical, juridical, scholarly, and educational character in Belarusian, Russian and other languages; organizing the publication, with cooperation of other archival institutions, of scholarly papers and periodical articles related to archival automation techniques and approaches
- Development of software needed for automation of major archival processes
- Maintenance of a web resource of the Belarusian archival network–the Archives of Belarus website
