Participation of the State Archive of the Gomel Region in a ceremonial assembly at the Priborsk State College, held in honor of the Great October Revolution as part of the «Archives for Schools» initiative
On November 6, 2026, Archive Director Yuri Shestopalov and archivist (first qualification category) Viktoriya Rudenko took part in a ceremonial assembly at the Priborsk State College. The assembly and an accompanying open lesson were dedicated to the 109th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. In his address, Yuri Shestopalov focused on the achievements of the Great October Revolution.
«With the victory of the working class — led by the Bolshevik Party — over the Tsarist autocracy, the right to national self-determination, peaceful development, state-provided social guarantees, the right to work, and access to free education and healthcare were established. It is no coincidence that the first decrees adopted were the «Decree on Peace» and the «Decree on Land». The former declared a readiness to immediately conclude a peace treaty without annexations or indemnities — a vital necessity for the nascent Soviet Republic — while the latter transferred land to the peasantry without the requirement of redemption payments. The introduction of an eight-hour workday, the granting of equal rights to men and women in all spheres of public life, and the proclamation of the equality and sovereignty of the peoples of Russia all serve as proof that the leadership of the RSFSR followed the correct path—the path of Lenin. Young people have a duty to respect and cherish their national history and the memory of the generations whose achievements continue to benefit many European countries to this day», said Yuri Shestopalov.
Viktoriya Rudenko dedicated her presentation to the youth of the 1920s — the Komsomol members and enthusiasts — highlighting the contributions made by young people to the cause of the revolution. Her presentation also touched upon the attitudes of today’s Belarusian youth toward the events of the October Revolution of 1917.
In closing, warm congratulations on the national holiday were extended to the older generation and all those in attendance.
