Future Nurses Uncover Historical Secrets: Students from the Mogilev State Medical College Visit the State Archive of the Mogilev Region

As part of the national «Archives for Schools» initiative, a tour was organized for first-year nursing students from the Mogilev State Medical College. This event builds upon a long-standing and successful partnership between the educational institution and the archive.

The visit began in the archives’ storage facility, where the future nurses saw firsthand the conditions in which historical records are preserved and learned about the practical, day-to-day work of archivists.

The tour continued in the document digitization sector. The students were shown modern scanning equipment and given a detailed look at the technical workflow—from the creation of a digital copy to its subsequent editing.

The final part of the program took place in the assembly hall, where the first-year students viewed an exhibition of documents dedicated to the history of medicine during the Great Patriotic War. The students were particularly engaged by archival materials concerning the Mogilev City Hospital and local pharmacies. These documents vividly illustrate both the dire conditions experienced during the Nazi occupation and the true heroism of the medical staff who saved lives throughout the war.
