The National Archives of the Republic of Belarus presents a virtual exhibition titled «From Medical Faculty to BSMU: 105 Years of Safeguarding Health»

The Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) is one of the leading higher medical educational institutions in the Republic of Belarus, having earned great prestige and recognition both within the country and far beyond its borders. Its halls bring together long-standing traditions, academic depth, and the cutting-edge technologies of the future.

The university’s history began in 1921 with the establishment of the Medical Faculty at the Belarusian State University (BSU), which, by 1930, had evolved into an independent educational institution. Its early steps were modest yet significant: in 1925, the first class of physicians graduated, with 21 individuals receiving their diplomas. Today, the number of BSMU graduates reaches into the thousands, each one bringing a beacon of hope and healing.

Medical professionals are those who carefully guide us from our very first breath throughout our entire lives. Belarus has long been renowned for its exceptionally high standard of education, unique medical schools, and noble traditions in the training of physicians.

The National Archives of the Republic of Belarus invites you to explore this virtual exhibition «From Medical Faculty to BSMU: 105 Years of Safeguarding Health», which chronicles the development of the Belarusian State Medical University as an independent higher educational institution.
