BGAMLI at the opening of the exhibition «Minsk – The City of My Happiness» at the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery
On October 15, 2026, E.A.Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (BGAMLI), attended the opening of the exhibition «Minsk – The City of My Happiness» at the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery. The exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian artist Boris Arakcheev.
The exhibition serves as a retrospective of Boris Arakcheev’s works dedicated to the capital of Belarus. The core of the display consists of landscape paintings and thematic works, complemented by graphic pieces and a series of small studies from 1957, which capture Minsk across various decades. These works depict the city’s central streets prior to their modern development and reconstruction, shown throughout different seasons, during holidays, and amidst public celebrations, complete with flags and demonstrations. Boris Arakcheev himself considered Minsk the place of his happiness—it was here that he received his artistic education, met his love, and laid the foundation for his family’s artistic dynasty.
