Oleg Leonidovich Voinov, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, represented the Belarusian side at the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the Joint Action Plan for the Development of Cooperation between the Archival Institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2025–2027.

It was noted that the activities envisaged by the Plan are being fully implemented. These include a roundtable discussion on «Acquisition of Archival Collections of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus» (November 19, 2025) and an international scientific and practical seminar on the use of archival documents (February 19, 2026).

On September 9, 2026, at the 22nd meeting of the Advisory Council of the Heads of State Archival Services of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, an exchange of digital copies of archival documents from the National Archival Collections is planned.

Particular attention was paid to the preparation for publication of a collection of archival documents, «Belarus and Uzbekistan: Common Pages of Modern History», based on the archive collections of the two countries (clause 10 of the Plan). The Belarusian side submitted a list of identified archival documents.

The parties discussed the issue of internships for employees of archival institutions of the Republic of Belarus in archival institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan (clause 7 of the Plan, deadline: the second half of 2026) and agreed to further explore this issue.

As new areas of cooperation, O.L.Voinov proposed exploring the possibility of Uzbek colleagues’ participation in the «History for Schoolchildren» publishing project, as well as organizing screenings of documentaries produced by Belarusian archival institutions at venues in Uzbekistan as part of the «Archives for Schools» project. The Belarusian side expressed its willingness to organize similar screenings of Uzbek films.

Particular interest was expressed by the proposal to jointly use artificial intelligence technologies in archival work, including the creation of video clips, virtual exhibitions on the history of the two countries, and the improvement of archival technological processes.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on more active interaction between regional archival institutions of Belarus and Uzbekistan. The parties confirmed their intention to further deepen their cooperation in the archival field.
