BGAMLI at the International Roundtable «Innovative Scholar and Educator»

On May 29, 2026, E.A.Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), and D.S.Samokhvalov, Leading Researcher of the Department of Information, Publication, and Use of Documents at BGAMLI, participated in the international roundtable «Innovative Scholar and Educator», dedicated to the scientific and educational legacy of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor V.N.Sidortsov.
Vladimir Nikiforovich Sidortsov (1935–2025) was the founder and first head of the Department of Source Studies at BSU, which trains students in archivism. He was known for his commitment to the use of innovative methods of historical research, including information technology, historical psychology, and anthropology. In the last years of his life, he became an advocate of synergetics.
Professor A.G.Kokhanovsky, Dean of the Faculty of History at BSU, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Professor L.I.Borodkin, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Head of the Department of Historical Informatics at M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University, delivered a welcoming address to the roundtable participants. The event was moderated by Professor S.N.Khodin, Head of the Department of Source Studies at the Faculty of History at BSU, Doctor of Historical Sciences.
The roundtable was attended by scholars from Belarus, including students of V.N.Sidortsov, and Russia. Discussions focused on improving the methodology of history studies, the creation of school textbooks, archival documents in the digital ecosystem, and the use of artificial intelligence. E.A.Makarenko and D.S.Samokhvalov presented a report, «A Gender Approach in the Practice of Archival Document Research», which covered issues of gender research methodology and the potential of the BGAML archival collections.
