The Central Laboratory opened its doors to schoolchildren ahead of Children’s Day

On the eve of Children’s Day, elementary school students from Minsk Secondary School No.86 enjoyed an unusual lesson at the Central Laboratory for Document Preservation of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus. The tour was part of the nationwide «Archives for School» campaign.

Laboratory Director S.I.Mezga, in an engaging and accessible manner, told the young guests about the importance of preserving documents from the past. The most captivating part was a visit to the restoration and conservation departments. There, the children observed in real time how artisans painstakingly restore the worn paper records of the era to their original appearance and prepare them for binding.
