A fascinating journey into the world of history: first-graders from Minsk Secondary School No.86 visited the State Archives of the Minsk Region

In the lead-up to Children’s Day, June 1st, the State Archives of the Minsk Region held an interactive tour for students from Class 1A of Minsk Secondary School No.86. For the young guests, a routine visit turned into a captivating journey.

For the first-graders, this was their first experience with archival work. To make the visit understandable and memorable, the archive staff prepared a unique tour with interactive elements.

The main surprise for the little ones was the exciting quest «Treasure Hunt». The first-graders turned into real detectives. To find secret documents and decipher the riddle, they had to use their ingenuity, attentiveness, and team spirit.

A fun quiz, «Archive», helped reinforce their newfound knowledge. The children eagerly answered the questions.

For their efforts, keen interest, and erudition, each participant received a commemorative diploma and a sweet prize.

The first visit of first-graders from Secondary School No.86 to the State Archives of the Minsk Region proved that history is anything but boring. Archival collections can be a place for genuine discovery, even for those who have only recently learned to read and write. The event marked an excellent beginning for the younger generation to connect with the historical heritage of their native land.
