The Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation conducted educational activities with young people

As part of the national «Archives for School» campaign, and in anticipation of the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, from May 5, 2026, to May 6, 2026, the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation held educational activities at the Minsk Polytechnic College and the Minsk State College of Architecture and Construction.

Students at both institutions attended a lecture on the events of the Great Patriotic War and a screening of the film «Hero Fortress».

The lecture was delivered by Grigory Stepanovich Zholnerkevich, Acting Director of the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation.

During his lecture, Grigory Stepanovich recalled the key events of the tragic Great Patriotic War. Citing historical documents, Grigory Stepanovich briefly but succinctly described the course of the Great Patriotic War in Belarus. Particular emphasis was placed on the brutality of the Nazi invaders and the heroic resistance of the Belarusian people.

After his speech, Grigory Stepanovich answered all the students’ questions and screened the film «Hero Fortress», which left a lasting impression on the students and everyone present. After watching the film, Grigory Stepanovich expressed his deep gratitude to his colleagues from the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Recording Archive for their work in creating the film. He called on everyone present to do everything possible to ensure that the events of those terrible years are not repeated, to honor the memory of all the victims of that war, and to express his special gratitude to all those who, risking their health and their lives, did everything possible to bring the Great Victory closer as quickly as possible and to give all peoples, and the Belarusian people in particular, the most precious thing on Earth – life.
