Congratulations to WWII veteran Ivan Aleksandrovich Pasyugi

On May 6, 2026, on the eve of the 81st anniversary of the Soviet people’s Great Victory over the Nazi invaders, Artem Kamalyev, Head of the Main Directorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee; Victoria Tsymbalova, Head of Ideological Work of the Main Justice Department; and Yuri Shestopalov, Director of the State Archives of the Gomel Region, along with the institution’s trade union activists, visited WWII veteran Ivan Aleksandrovich Pasyugi.

Ivan Aleksandrovich Pasyugi has reached his centenary. His front-line career began in the Altai Territory as a signalman and ended in Königsberg. His orders and medals testify to his long and heroic military career. It is gratifying to note that the veteran is a historian and archivist. The guests warmly congratulated the veteran on the upcoming Victory Day, presenting him with commemorative gifts and wishing him good health and a long life.

Artem Kamalyev noted that when we meet veterans who survived the war and retained a clear mind and strong character, we better understand the meaning of fortitude.

«Our peaceful lives, the opportunity to work, raise children, and not fear the future are the result of their courage and resilience», said Artem Kamalyev.

Yuri Shestopalov congratulated Ivan Alexandrovich on Victory Day and, on behalf of the Communist Party of Belarus, expressed words of appreciation and gratitude for the peaceful skies above, for the Great Victory that no one can take away from our people!
