BGAMLI Lesson with Film Screening

On May 6, 2026, Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), and Dmitry Sergeyevich Samokhvalov, Leading Researcher in the Department of Information, Publication, and Use of Documents at the archive-museum, held a lesson for fifth-grade students from Minsk Secondary School No.4, showing the film «Hero Fortress», produced by the Belarusian State Archives of Film and Photographic Documents with the participation of the Department of Archives and Documentation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. The event was held as part of the «Archives for Schools» campaign.

BGAMLI representatives spoke about the importance of remembering the events of the Great Patriotic War for the Belarusian people and about archival institutions as institutions of social memory. Despite their young age, the students listened with interest and asked questions after the film. At the end of the lesson, they expressed a desire to visit BGAMLI on a tour.
