History and Memory Lessons: A Film Lecture to Mark the 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Tragedy was Held at the Zhlobin District Court

On April 30, a screening of the documentary film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», produced by the BGAKFFD, was held at the Zhlobin District Court.

The event was organized by the Zonal State Archive in Zhlobin and coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. The event brought together judicial staff and 10th-grade students from Secondary School No.7 in Zhlobin.

Before the film screening, O.N.Pavlyukova, Head of the Department of Document Records, Preservation, and Use, addressed the audience.

She recounted the history of the disaster, emphasizing that the Chernobyl accident was the greatest test of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. In her speech, she focused on the impact the tragedy had on the lives of residents of the Gomel region and the Zhlobin district in particular, and the role archival documents play in preserving the truth about those events.
