The Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) congratulated its partner, Minsk Secondary School No.4, on the 120th anniversary of its founding

On April 23, 2026, E.A.Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI), took part in a ceremony commemorating the 120th anniversary of the founding of Minsk Secondary School No.4, a partner of the archives and museum.

The Head of the Main Ideological Directorate of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, A.N.Lipnitsky; member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Education, Science, Culture, and Social Development, M.A.Ilyina; the leaders and their representatives of the Leninsky District Administration of Minsk; and Fyodor Povny, rector of the All Saints Memorial Church in Minsk, among others, also came to congratulate the school’s administration and teaching staff.

Secondary School No.4 is the oldest school in Minsk. In 1906, private entrepreneurs S.P.Zubakin and K.O.Falkovich opened the «Minsk Private Full-Fledged Male Gymnasium». It was located on the site of the current building of the History Faculty of Belarusian State University (6 Krasnoarmeyskaya Street). In 1918, it was reorganized into Secondary School No.4. In 1920, it was divided into First-Level School No.70 and Secondary School No.4, then converted into a seven-year school. In 1936, the institution acquired a building at 11 Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, which was designed and built as part of the new development program on Kirov Street, along with the Pioneer House and the Lenin Library complex, built during the same period, according to the design of architect Gerasim Yakushko. During the Great Patriotic War, the school building was completely destroyed; it was restored in the post-war period and continued to operate for several decades. On September 1, 2025, after extensive reconstruction, the school reopened its doors.

BGAMLI warmly congratulates our partners—the school’s administration, teaching staff, and students—on this significant date—the 120th anniversary of its founding. We sincerely wish the school prosperity, and the staff—inexhaustible energy, health, and talented students! We look forward to the implementation of new joint projects!
