The 4th International Roundtable «Not Subject to Oblivion», dedicated to the 85th Anniversary of the Beginning of the Great Patriotic War, was held at Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University and the Center for Russian Language, History, and Culture of Polotsk University, with the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Belarus.
The conference was moderated by Alesya Iosifovna Korsak, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University, PhD in History, and Associate Professor.
Conference participants presented research based on archival materials and reports documenting the crimes committed by the occupying forces. The presentations focused on instances of violence, the actions of nationalist groups, and the work of partisan organizations to document these crimes. Particular attention was given to comprehensive scientific research aimed at restoring historical justice and understanding the scale of the losses suffered by the Belarusian people.
Experts discussed fieldwork conducted at mass grave sites and their significance for studying the consequences of the genocide. Each presentation aimed to deepen knowledge of the tragic events of the war and the need to properly understand them in a modern context.
The study of archival documents and testimonies is truly the foundation for understanding history. Only by relying on facts can we resist attempts to rewrite the past and devalue the heroism of the victorious generation.
