BGAMLI at «Dialogues on Culture»

On April 8, 2026, Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), and D.S.Samokhvalov, Leading Researcher of the BGAMLI Department of Information, Publication, and Document Use, participated in the program «Dialogues on Culture» hosted by journalist and Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Naum Yakovlevich Galperovich on the Kultura Radio channel.

The program explored the contribution of Belarusian women to the development of national culture. The BGAMLI is the largest repository of documents by prominent female literary and artistic figures of the last century, including Aloisa Pashkevich (Tsetka), Konstancja Bujlo, Larisa Aleksandrovskaya, Sofia Drucker, Zinaida Bandarina, Anna Obukhovich, and others. However, women’s personal collections account for 8.94% of the total collection at the archive-museum, while men’s collections account for 65.59%. These figures reflect the traditional attitude toward women’s intellectual work in the past. The BGAMLI strives to broaden understanding of the importance of their work through familiarization with the documentary heritage.

N.Ya.Galperovich expressed sincere interest in the archive-museum’s experience and discussed various forms of promoting cultural figures through archival institutions. Following the handover, BGAMLI representatives held discussions on the possibility of establishing N.Ya.Galperovich’s personal collection at the BGAMLI.
