Participation of BGAMLI in the seminar «Under the Sign of Victory: Personalities, Archives, Documentary Evidence»

On May 8, 2025, leading researcher of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) Dmitry Samakhvalov took part in the seminar «Under the Sign of Victory: Personalities, Archives, Documentary Evidence», which was held at the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The seminar was organized as a joint event of the academic library and the scientific and methodological journal «Rodnae Slova». BGAMLI actively cooperates with both institutions. Editor-in-chief of the journal «Rodnae Slova» Natalia Shapran introduced the participants of the event to joint media projects for 2025, including the project «Personality on Archive Pages», joint with BGAMLI. It is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the archive-museum and tells about the unique archival documents of famous figures of Belarusian literature stored in its funds.

In his speech, Dmitry Samakhvalov spoke about the features of the presentation of some documents, including additional published information, which should help readers of the Rodnaye Slova magazine master the heuristic techniques of archival work. An important part of the project is the presentation of materials by front-line writers. Using the example of the documentary heritage of the poet, underground fighter and partisan Valentin Tavlai, Dmitry Samokhvalov demonstrated the possibilities of studying the mentality and perception of the era through the analysis of edits in surviving manuscripts.

The seminar was held in the format of a lively discussion – with sincere interest, free discussion and plans for further cooperation.
