Memory, pride, unity: archivists of the State Archives of the Minsk Region and the ZGA in Molodechno presented a joint exhibition at the Mound of Glory

On May 9, the memorial complex «Mound of Glory» was especially crowded – veterans, government officials, work collectives, public organizations and families with children gathered here to celebrate Victory Day in a single impulse.

The Minsk Region organized a large-scale festive event dedicated to the anniversary date. Songs of the war years were heard here, heroes and feats of the people were remembered. Museum and archival exhibitions told about the tragedies of the war and the desire for a peaceful future.

Archivists presented historical materials in the format of roll-ups, covering key topics important for the memory and identity of the region. The State Archives of the Minsk Region prepared an exhibition dedicated to the genocide of civilians during the Great Patriotic War, and also presented materials on the development of the Minsk region and the history of the Mound of Glory itself. In turn, the Molodechno Archive focused on the tragic pages of history associated with the genocide of the population in the Vileika, Myadel, Molodechno and Volozhin regions.

The exhibition reminded that knowledge of history is not only a tribute to the past, but also the key to preventing similar events in the future.
