The State Archives of the Vitebsk Region presented the publication «There is an ancient city on the Dvina» – a collection of materials from the historical and archival teleconference between Vitebsk and Volgograd, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Vitebsk region from the Nazi invaders and the 1050th anniversary of the founding of Vitebsk

The presentation took place in the Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F.Shmyrev.

This project was a continuation of the active cooperation of archivists of the two countries. The first events within the framework of international cooperation took place in 2021.

In June 2024, an international historical and archival teleconference between Vitebsk and Volgograd was held, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Vitebsk region from the Nazi invaders and the 1050th anniversary of the founding of the city. About 20 people made presentations in it.

Moderator of the presentation event, Deputy Director of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region Tatyana Buevich reported that the collection was created with the support of the State Archives of the Volgograd Region.

Representatives of museums, archivists, searchers, teachers and future historians – students of the Vitebsk State University named after P.M.Masherov – participated in the presentation of the collection «There is an ancient city on the Dvina».

Tatyana Buevich presented author’s copies to those who prepared articles for publication.

Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the scientific, local history, teaching sphere will continue with the same success, the participants of the presentation of the collection and their colleagues, who sent video greetings from Volgograd, have no doubt about this.
