Students visited the Zonal State Archives in Novogrudok

On September 20, 2024, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, the «Zonal State Archives in Novogrudok» institution was visited by 3rd grade students of Secondary School No. 4 in Novogrudok.

The head of the department for ensuring the safety, accounting and use of documents, N.A. Pisaruk, introduced the children to the functions and tasks of the archival institution, its history, the composition of the documents and their chronological framework. The schoolchildren were presented with a documentary stand exhibition «Novogrudok – an ancient city, a young city», dedicated to the 980th anniversary of Novogrudok, the documents of which tell about the history of the development of industry, urban development, education, culture in Novogrudok, about the architectural and historical monuments available in the city and district. Natalia Anatolyevna emphasized that Novogrudok entered the new 21st century renewed and upset, while preserving the architectural layout of the historical center.

In the reading room, with the help of archival documents of the stand exhibition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western Belarus and the BSSR, students learned about the historical events of September 17, 1939, the young holiday – National Unity Day, as well as the first events of the Soviet government in the territory of Novogrudok region.

The meeting ended with a tour of the archive with a visit to the archive storage.
