On conducting seminars on the topic «Confessional archives of Belarus» for 2nd year students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University

On May 23, 2024, as part of the republican action «Archives for School», seminar classes were held in the National Historical Archive of Belarus on the academic discipline «Confessional Archives of Belarus in the 18th–early 20th centuries» for 2nd year students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University (specialty «historical and archival studies»).

The event was held by Associate Professor of the Department of Source Studies of the Faculty of History of BSU, Candidate of Historical Sciences Zinaida Antonovich. During the seminar classes, students had the opportunity to become familiar with the specific composition of the files of archival funds 131 (Dean of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Borisov District), 136 (Minsk Theological Orthodox Consistory), 937 (Minsk Roman Catholic Consistory), 1655 (Hegumen Uniate Deanery ) NIA of Belarus, the specifics of their formation, as well as approaches to identifying the information potential of documents created in the process of the activities of fund founders.

Similar events are held on the basis of the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus in order to improve the quality of training of future archivists, expand the possibilities of using the archival funds of religious institutions and develop the scientific reference apparatus for them.
