Joint event of the State Archive of the Minsk Region and the Minsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations

On May 3, 2024, in the Minsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in accordance with the Plan of preparation and conduct of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the State Archive of the Minsk Region took part in the dialogue platform «Truth» lives in us».

As part of this event, employees of the state archive presented the historical and documentary exhibition «1944. Liberation. Events and Heroes», prepared as part of the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Leningrad Region (Russian Federation) and the Minsk Regional Executive Committee (Republic of Belarus) on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and socio-cultural spheres for 2023-2024. The documents presented at the exhibition tell about the liberation of the Minsk and Leningrad regions during the Belarusian, Leningrad-Novgorod, Vyborg-Petrozavodsk offensive operations.

The materials are presented in the format of a traveling exhibition and electronic presentation.

There was also a premiere screening of the documentary film «Liberation», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents in Dzerzhinsk as part of the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could». The presented archival chronicles tell in chronological order about the liberation of the cities of Belarus with the inclusion of modern footage of the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument on Victory Square.
