As part of the signed cooperation agreement between the NIA of Belarus and the educational institution “Minsk State College of Digital Technologies”, representatives of the archive held a number of educational events for college students on September 22, 2023.

Leading researcher of the department of research and publication activities Aksana Zenko, in the format of a sightseeing tour, told the children about the historical development of the central part of Minsk – the Upper Town and Nemiga areas. She showed the college students copies of archival documents (plans, drawings, drawings) reflecting the appearance of the buildings of historical Minsk in the late 18th – early 20th centuries. It should be emphasized that the excursion was attended by children with special needs of psychophysical development, receiving inclusive education at the Minsk State College of Digital Technologies.

Deputy head of the department of research and publication activities Evgeniy Glinsky gave a lesson for college students on the topic “Minsk at the end of the 18th – beginning of the 20th centuries.” With the help of a presentation and handouts during the lesson, students were shown maps and plans of Minsk from the late 18th – first half of the 19th centuries (including the famous plan of 1800 by Fyodor Kramer), drawings and other images of iconic Minsk new buildings of the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries : Hotel “Europe”, buildings of the Free Fire Society, houses of Obrampalsky and Livshits. During the lesson, E. Glinsky also spoke about government institutions, cultural life in the city, and drew attention to the multi-confessional composition of the population of Minsk during this period.

An outstanding researcher of the history of Minsk, leading researcher at the Department for the Use of Documents and Information, Vladimir Denisov, took an active part in preparing materials for the excursion and lesson.

NIA Belarus expresses gratitude to the students and teaching staff of the Minsk State College of Digital Technologies (and personally to the director Georgy Vladimirovich Kozel) for the hospitable welcome and their great interest in the documents of the National Historical Archive of Belarus.
