About conducting classes for students of the 5th grade of the 207th secondary school in Minsk

On May 13, 2023, as part of the events of the Republican campaign «Archives for School», a lesson was held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus for 5th grade students of the 207th secondary school in Minsk. The visit of young visitors imposed additional responsibility on the archivists, as it set a task of particular importance – to convey to them the importance of preserving and using the documentary heritage of the Belarusian people.

During the lesson, Deputy Director of the Archive Maxim Makarov described the history and funds of the institution for visitors. Vladimir Denisov, Leading Researcher of the Department for the Use of Documents and Information, told the students about the specifics of the archive’s documentary collections, different types of documents and the circumstances of their creation. The lesson was accompanied by a demonstration of the originals of some documents that are stored in the archive. Particular attention was paid to the disclosure of their value, which is aimed at developing in students a sense of pride in their homeland and its historical heritage.

The lesson aroused keen interest of the students, who looked with great pleasure at the documentary monuments of the history of Belarus demonstrated to them.
