The Local State Archives in Orsha conducted a lecture on the topic “The sacred memory of the past. Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War” as part of the Archives for School campaign
On 6 April 2022, in the reading room of the Local State Archives in Orsha, as part of the Archives for School campaign, a lesson was held on the topic “The sacred memory of the past. Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War” for 6th grade students of Secondary School No 7.
The students got acquainted with the documentary exhibition of archival documents and photographs reflecting the Nazi policy in the city of Orsha and Orsha District during the Great Patriotic War, about the numerous atrocities committed by the Nazis and irrecoverable losses brought by the war.
They were shown a presentation of photos from the personal collections about the heroes of the war who lived in the Orsha region.
The students also had a tour around the archives and the archive repository and learned about the specifics of repair and restoration of archival documents.
