Workshop on the topic of “The archival world in the light of the 16th ICA Congress” is to be held by the Society of Belarusian Archivisits and the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus at the National Archives of Belarus in Minsk on 9 October 2008.

Agenda:

1. The role of archives in the preservation of documentary heritage.

   Report by V.I. Adamushko, director at the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus

2. Archival resources and tools for the use of documents in modern environment.

   Report by V.D. Selemenev, director at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus.

3. Records management as a system of the effective functioning of government institutions and aimed at providing proper acquisition of archives

   Report by A.E. Rybakov, director at the Belarusian Research Institute of Records Management and Archival Studies.

4. Exchange of best practices and opinions on the agenda issues.

An excursion to the National Library of Belarus is scheduled.
