The Belarusian delegation took part at the 20th General Conference of the International Council on Archives Eurasian Regional Branch EURASICA in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic
On 30-31 October 2019 Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic hosted the 20th General Conference of the Eurasian Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives EURASICA, the meeting of the Consultative Council of Heads of State Archival Services of CIS Member States, and the international scholarly conference “Current Issues in Use of Archival Records”.
The EURASICA events brought together delegations of archivists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia, Russia, Poland, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The Belarusian delegation included Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry V. I. Kourash (delegation head), Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus A. K. Demyanyuk, Director of the Вelarusian Research Institute of Records Management and Archival Studies A. E. Rybakov, Director of the State Archives of Minsk Region Yu. S. Romashko.
The 20th General Conference of the EURASICA discussed the implementation of the branch action plans for 2017-2020, participation in the next, 19th international Congress of Archives in Abu-Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), and more. The next EURASICA meeting will take place in 2020 in Beijing, China.
The Consultative Council of Heads of State Archival Services of CIS Member States heard reports on the development of archive business in the Commonwealth states, a report of the Russian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science (VNIIDAD) on the institution’s work as a basis organization for education and advanced training of professional personnel in the CIS countries in archival studies and records management. They also discussed topical issues in the development of cooperation in archival affairs in the CIS countries. The next session of the Consultative Council is scheduled to take place in 2010 in Kazan, Russian Federation.
At the international scholarly conference “Current Issues in Use of Archival Records” the speakers from the Belarusian side were Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus A. K. Demyanyuk (“Expanding access to archival records: problems and ways of solution (in practices of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus)”, Director of the State Archives of Minsk Region Yu. S. Romashko (“On current practices in exhibition activities at the State Archives of Minsk Region”).
