The Archival Service of the Republic of Belarus meeting with the delegation of USA Agency for International Development

On 11 April 2019 representatives of the Republic of Belarus Archival Service headed by First Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry Olga Ledovskaya met with the delegation of USA Agency for International Development (USAID) headed by Assistant Administrator for USAID Bureau for Europe and Eurasia Brock Bierman with the participation of Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Belarus in the United States Jenifer H. Moore. The meeting took place at the National Historical Archives of Belarus (NIAB).

The participants discussed issues of potential Belarusian-American cooperation in the field of archives and joint projects in records digitization. The NIAB Director Dmitry Yatsevich acquainted the guests with the Archive’s practices in the field of genealogical research, the process of digitization of the archive documents of the late 14th to the early 20th centuries, and perspectives of online access to the archive documents.

The participants at the meeting were representatives of the American non-commercial civil organization «Family Search International», who handed over to Belarusian archivists digital copies of the documents digitized on the sidelines of the earlier cooperation between this organization and the Archival Service of the Republic of Belarus.

The American guests received the latest research editions issued by the Archives.
