17th General Conference of the Eurasian regional branch of the International Council on Archives (EURASICA) took place in Minsk
On 31 May 2016 Minsk hosted the 17th General Conference of the Eurasian regional branch of the International Council on Archives (EURASICA) and a regular session of the Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of the CIS member countries.
The EURASICA session discussed the issues of implementing the Plan of Action of the ICA Eurasian branch for 2013-2016, the Plan of Action for 2017-2020, the 18th International Congress of Archives in Seoul etc.
Participants at the EURASICA Conference were delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia and Uzbekistan. Delegations from China, Latvia and Lithuania took part as observers.
The international scholarly conference “Archives in the world of information technologies” is held on 1 June 2016 as part of the 17th General Conference.
The Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of CIS countries discussed the issues of the development of archive business in CIS countries in 2015-1016, the inventory of the legal contract basis in the sphere of the Consultative Council, the activities of the All-Russian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science as a basic institution for professional training in archives and records management in CIS countries etc.
The Consultative Council brought together heads and members of the state archival services from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Mr. V. Adamushko, Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus has been elected Chairman of the Consultative Council.
The next sessions of the EURASICA and the Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of CIS countries will take place in Autumn 2017 in Armenia.
