Documentary exhibition commemorating 75th anniversary since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945
A documentary exhibition was opened on 18 May 2016 at the History Faculty of the Belarusian State University (BSU) to commemorate the 75th anniversary since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. The exhibition was prepared by the State Archives of Minsk Region together with the BSU History Faculty.
The exhibition was opened by Director of the State Archives of Minsk Region Yu. Romashko, Dean of the BSU History Faculty S. Khodin, and Dean Assistant for Scholarly Work at the BSU History Faculty A. Kokhanovsky.
Yu. Matusevich, head of records use and publication at the State Archives of Minsk Region introduced the exhibition to the public.
The exhibition shows historical documents in two thematic sections.
The first section shows the unique documents captured from the enemy: an original copy of the diploma of appointment as a village head (starosta); a certificate of an employee at the Central Trade Society Vostok; a patent and map for craftsman’s business issued by the finance department of the Borisov District Board etc.
The second section tells about the activities of the prominent resistance fighters V. Saichik and Z. Galo. Also, the exposition includes the certificate of award issued to the resistance fighter, Hero of the Soviet Union N. Kedyshko. The reports by partisan scouts and intelligence agents illuminate the situation in Nazi-occupied Minsk and show where the German garrisons were located. The exhibition also contains the list of army formations named after Minsk and the resolution of the meeting for awarding Heroes of the Soviet Union N. Kolychev and A. Burdeiny the title of the Honorary Citizen of Minsk.
