The State Archives of Minsk Region released a commemorative book on the patriots who provided medical assistance to Partisans in WWII

Book coverIn October 2015 the State Archives of Minsk Region released a commemorative book “We Will Remember Them By Name…” about the patriots who provided medical assistance to partisan fighters in Minsk Region during the Second World War.

The book is prepared by Head of the Records Use and Publications Division Yulia V. Matusevich on the basis of the materials of the award certificates kept at the State Archives of Minsk Region.

The book provides the names of the patriots who during the Second World War assisted the partisans in Minsk Region with medicine and bandages, gave shelter and treatment to the wounded and sick partisans. The book includes data-based diagrams reflecting the ratio of the medical and non-medical professions, gives information on the awards presented to the listed persons, and shows which social group representatives provided medical assistance to partisans. There is also information about the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the activities of the underground resistance organizations that gave medical help to partisans in Minsk Region.

The book includes a geographical index and many interesting illustrations available from the State Archives of Minsk Region, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings, the Museum of the History of Medicine of Belarus, and the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
