Parental Love Week at the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photograph, and Sound Documents

From October 14 to October 21, 2026, the Republic of Belarus is observing «Parental Love Week». This period encompasses two significant family-oriented holidays: Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

October 14 is Mother’s Day. This year marks the 30th time Belarus has celebrated this occasion, which coincides with the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. It is a heartwarming family day when children—both young and grown—express their gratitude to the person most dear to them.

October 21 is Father’s Day. This holiday, which has been celebrated in Belarus since 2022, brings Parental Love Week to a close.

As part of Parental Love Week, the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photograph, and Sound Documents organized a collage exhibition titled «Branches of the Same Tree», featuring childhood photographs of the archive’s own staff members. Each photo in the collage was numbered, sparking great excitement among the employees as they tried to identify their colleagues—many of whom had changed beyond recognition!

Another vibrant highlight of Parental Love Week is an exhibition of children’s drawings themed «Planet Family». This display offers a chance to immerse oneself in a world of creativity, love, and happiness, as captured by young artists. The exhibition showcases works by the children of our staff members, created with a little help from their parents. The youngsters depict their families in various settings and activities—featuring portraits of mothers, fathers, siblings, and pets, as well as scenes of family celebrations, travels, and imaginative visions of the future. The «Planet Family» exhibition is not only an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and sincerity of children’s artwork, but also a moment to reflect on the importance of family in our lives. After all, it is the family that forms the foundation of our happiness and well-being—a fact our children sense and express through their work.
