«Archives for Schools»: A Patriotism Lesson at Ozershchina Secondary School No.1, Rechitsa District

On September 23, 2026, as part of the «Archives for Schools» initiative and in honor of the Year of the Belarusian Woman, archivists from the Zonal State Archive in Rechitsa conducted a patriotism lesson titled «A Sister of Mercy Named Olga» for 10th and 11th-grade students at Ozershchina Secondary School No.1 in the Rechitsa District. During the lesson, the students were introduced to the biography and personal documents of Olga Fedoseevna Dolgushova—a Great Patriotic War veteran and archive fonds creator—who served as a nurse both at the front and in peacetime.

The second part of the lesson took the form of a film screening and discussion. The young audience watched the documentary «Hero-Fortress», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents to mark the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. The film chronicles the defense of the Brest Fortress in June and July 1941, highlighting the courage and heroism of its defenders, as well as the 1971 unveiling of the «Brest Hero-Fortress» memorial.
