The Zonal State Archive in Rechitsa presents a document: a letter from a Great Patriotic War veteran to his family in the Bragin District

The records of the Department of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Bragin District Executive Committee contain a letter dated January 25, 1944, written by Great Patriotic War veteran Anikey Akimovich Snitsarenko to the village of Chemerisy (located in the Khrakovichi—now Chemerisy—Village Council area of the Bragin District) (F.186, Op.3, D.93, L.549–549v). The text of the letter reads:

«Greetings, my dear parents, my wife Anya Avramovna, my daughter Olya, my dear mother, my father-in-law and mother-in-law, the in-laws Pashka and Manya, and my brother-in-law Vanya. I am writing to let you know that I received your letter, for which I am very grateful. I am currently alive and well, and I wish the same for you in your life at home. I am adding a note about Mikhail Gerda: he was severely wounded in battle. There is nothing more to write. So long, goodbye.

I send you, my dear parents, my greetings from the front. Goodbye».

According to the «Memory of the People» website (pamyat-naroda.ru), Anikey Snitsarenko was born in 1916 or 1919 in the village of Cheretyanka (Rudnya Village Council, Zhitkovichi District, in the present-day Gomel Region). In 1943, he was drafted into the Red Army by the Bragin District Military Commissariat. He served in military unit 74268. He was killed in action on February 18, 1944, near the village of Terebov (Petrikov District) and the Ptich River.

According to the household register for the village of Chemerisy covering the years 1944–1946 (F.194, Op.3, D.7, ll.239v–240), Anikey Snitsarenko was born in 1921; his family resided in Chemerisy, consisting of his wife Anna Avraamovna (a teacher), his daughters Olga and Maria (born in 1943 and 1944, respectively), and his mother Khartina Platonovna.
