From the vault to the stands: Molodechno archivists spent the weekend at a beach soccer match
Last weekend, August 8th and 9th, the staff of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno enjoyed a busy weekend. Instead of the usual quiet of the vaults and the collection checks, they headed to the stadium in Pobeda Park as fans.
The occasion was the decisive fourth round and the super final of the Belarusian Beach Soccer Championship. For the archivists, this was an excellent opportunity to take a breather, escape the paperwork, and strengthen their team spirit outside the office. Especially since the local tournament debutant, PFC Metallurg, was playing on home turf, making it especially exciting to watch.
The sports program was excellent: sunshine, excitement, and a great atmosphere in the stands. Following the Super Final, Vitebsk’s Yurkas-Vitoblsport deservedly won the championship title, silver went to the Shchuchin team, and bronze went to Mogilev along with the local Olympic Reserve Center (ORC).
In an archival environment, where the lion’s share of time is spent meticulously and painstakingly working with documents, such outings are the best prevention of professional burnout, when colleagues cheer together for a goal.
Incidentally, the sports season in Molodechno isn’t over yet: the city will host the Belarusian Cup on August 22-23. So the archival staff has an excellent excuse to head back to the fan section.
