The Rechitsa Regional State Archives presents a document—a letter from a WWII veteran to his wife in the Bragin District

The archives of the Department of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Population of the Bragin District Executive Committee contain a letter from Vasily Nikitovich Teterin (Tetera), a WWII veteran, dated February 25, 1944 (F.186 Op.3 D.92 L.166-166ob) to the village of Yaseni in the Bragin District. The letter contains the following lines:

«I send you, Ksenia, my greetings, as well as greetings to the children—Sonya, Petya, and Volodya, and also greetings to dad and mom, brother-in-law Volodya, Alyona, and Anya, and all the children. Say hello to my family, my father and mother, my brother-in-law Styopa, my sister Anyuta, my brother’s niece, and everyone else». I’m letting you know that I’m currently resting, but I couldn’t write letters yet. I’ve been wandering from place to place. I’m currently staying in Bryansk, in a hospital for the slightly wounded. I’m feeling fine, so don’t worry about me».

The «Memory of the People» website (pamyat-naroda.ru) indicates that Vasily Teterin, born in 1899, fought in the 215th Army Reserve Rifle Regiment. He was wounded in December 1943, and after hospital treatment, he was enlisted in the 76th Mountain Rifle Division. He died on October 30, 1944. According to data from the household register for the village of Yaseni for 1944-1946 (F.203 Op.3 D.2 L.206ob), Vasily Teterin’s son, Pyotr, died.
