Paleographic Internship for Students of the Faculty of History of Belarusian State University at the National Historical Archives of Belarus
From June 29 to July 17, 2026, a paleographic internship for students of the Faculty of History of Belarusian State University took place at the National Historical Archives of Belarus. The main goal of the internship was to provide students with practical skills in working with archival handwritten documents from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Under the guidance of Elena Doroshenko, Deputy Head of the Department of Ancient Documents, and Andrei Latushkin, Associate Professor of the Department of Source Studies at the Faculty of History of Belarusian State University and PhD in History, the students learned to read archival documents in Old Belarusian, completed tables of the graphic forms of Cyrillic letters, compiled a dictionary of historical concepts, identified and described watermarks (filigrees), and formulated document headings.
