On the Participation of BGAKFFD Employees in the Celebration of Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus
July 3rd – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus – is a sacred date. This year, the city of Dzerzhinsk celebrates not only Independence Day but also the 880th anniversary of the city’s founding.
Employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (BGAKFFD) also participated in the Independence Day celebrations in Dzerzhinsk: they participated in a rally and the festive program «In Memory of the Belarusian Land», dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi invaders.
In memory of those who fell in the Great Patriotic War, Archive Director A.N.Gonchar and Deputy Director T.I.Aleshkevich laid a basket of flowers at the fraternal cemetery. The main national holiday brought together local government representatives, staff of institutions and organizations, work teams, law enforcement officials, military personnel, children and youth, veterans, and activists of public associations.
The holiday was marked by another important event: three BGAKFFD employees were accepted into the ranks of the «Belaya Rus» public organization.
The culmination of the holiday was the participation of archive staff in the traditional «Let’s Sing the Anthem Together» event.
The independence of our state is founded on the achievements of the victorious generation. This holiday is imbued with a sense of boundless gratitude to those who, without sparing their own lives, defended our land and gave us freedom.
