Meeting with the participants of the school camp of the Dzerzhinsky District Center of Tourism and Local History in the village of Stankovo
On June 25, 2026, the archivist of the Department of Documentats and Information Use of the Belarusian State Archives of Film, Photo, and Audio Documents, Andrey Valerievich Kucher, visited the Center for Tourism and Local History in the village of Stankovo as part of the «Archives – School» campaign.
During the event, the archivist gave a lecture and introduced the participants to the peculiarities of the work of the State archive of cinematographic and phonographic documents, told in detail about its structure, functions and significance for the preservation of cultural heritage.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the types of documents stored in the archive, methods of their systematization and protection, as well as the role of the archive in preserving historical memory and national identity. The importance of archival materials for scientific research, documentary research and education of the younger generation is explained.
At the end of the meeting, an employee of the archive showed a documentary film about the tragedy in Chernobyl, created on the basis of the archive’s funds. The film screening allowed the participants to gain a deeper understanding of the scale and consequences of the disaster, and also emphasized the value of archival materials in documenting events that affected the lives of millions of people.
This event became an important contribution to the educational work on the popularization of history and culture, and also contributed to the expansion of the knowledge of young visitors about the role and importance of archival institutions.
