Belarusian archivists participated in the International Forum of the Union State «Great Heritage – Common Future»

The International Forum of the Union State «Great Heritage – Common Future» was held in Brest on June 20-22, 2026. The forum was initiated by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

A delegation of Belarusian archivists, led by O.L.Voinov, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the Department), also participated in the forum.

On June 21, three papers were presented during the breakout sessions. At Section 1 («The History of the Great Patriotic War as a Consolidating Factor in Integration Processes in the Post-Soviet Space»), O.L.Voinov, Director of the Department, presented a paper entitled «Archivists’ Activities in Popularizing Documents on the History of the Partisan Movement in Belarus During the Great Patriotic War».

At Section 2 («The Spiritual and Cultural Foundations of the Great Victory»), U.A.Kolobaeva, Head of the Publications Department of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter NARB), presented a paper entitled «Women in the Partisan Movement in Belarus». At Section 3 («The Ideology of Neo-Nazism as a Threat to the Civilizational World Order in the Context of Escalating International Tensions»), NARB Deputy Director S.V.Kulinok delivered a paper entitled «The Documentary Publications of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus on the History of the Great Patriotic War (Genocide) – a Critical Factor in Countering the Threat of Neo-Nazism in the Republic of Belarus».

The plenary session of the forum took place on June 22. Welcoming addresses from President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko and President of the Russian Federation V.V.Putin were read to the forum participants. Presentations were made by I.P.Sergeyenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation; V.V.Volodin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; and parliamentarians from friendly countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

The promising areas of work developed during the forum will form the basis for specific projects and events within the Union State. The International Forum «Great Heritage – Common Future» will continue its work in the coming years, remaining an important platform for dialogue to protect historical truth and strengthen cooperation between countries.
