Open Day for Summer Campers of Dzerzhinsk Secondary School No.4
On June 16, 2026, as part of the Open Day, the national «Archives for Schools» campaign, and in anticipation of National Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People (June 22), staff of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents held an event for students of Dzerzhinsk Secondary School No.4, who were attending the summer school camp.
Mikhail Vladimirovich Garelik, Deputy Head of the Documents and Information Department, conducted a film lecture, during which he spoke about the Brest Fortress and its history. But the main focus of the event was the heroism of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, who were among the first to bear the brunt of the enemy’s attacks. The students were shown the film «Hero Fortress», produced as part of the Open Film Archive project by staff from the BSAKFFD and the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. The film and story about the fortress sparked a lively discussion and many questions from the children.
