Open Day at the Zonal State Archives in Slutsk as part of the national «Archives for Schools» campaign

On June 10, 2026, the Zonal State Archives in Slutsk held an Open Day for students from the «Solnyshko» health camp at Secondary School No.8 in Slutsk. Archive specialists organized an introductory tour of the archives and archival storage facility for the students. During the tour, the students learned a wealth of interesting information about the documents stored in the archives. Lyudmila Nikolaevna Patskevich, Head of the Document Use and Publication Department, spoke about how the archival collections are replenished and preserved.

The central event of the event was the documentary film «Hero Fortress», produced for the 85th anniversary of the defense of the Brest Fortress by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

The unique archival footage made a strong impression on the students and once again reminded them of the courage and dedication of the Soviet soldiers who bore the brunt of the enemy’s first blows on June 22, 1941.
